Arrest Made in a Separate High-Profile Case
In July, authorities announced the arrest of Ramon Angel Alvarez Ayala in the state of Jalisco.
Officials linked him to the killing of Valeria Marquez. Authorities also connected him to the November 2025 murder of Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo.
The arrest marked an important step in that investigation, although legal proceedings are still continuing.

Threats Against Online Personalities Have Raised Alarm
Concerns about the safety of influencers increased further in January 2025 when pamphlets were reportedly dropped from a small aircraft over Culiacan.
The messages allegedly threatened about 20 artists and YouTubers. According to reports, the threats accused them of having ties to a faction involved in cartel conflicts.
