From music icons and Hollywood actors to reality television personalities, their legal troubles dramatically changed the course of their lives and careers. Here are some of the most recognizable names who are currently behind bars.
Sean Combs
Sean “Diddy” Combs built one of the most influential careers in hip-hop, transforming himself from music producer to entrepreneur and entertainment mogul. His career took a dramatic turn following his arrest in September 2024 on multiple federal charges.
After legal proceedings, Combs received a prison sentence and is currently serving time in a federal correctional facility in New Jersey. His conviction marked one of the most significant downfalls involving a major figure in the music industry.
Tory Lanez
Canadian rapper Tory Lanez faced a major legal and career setback following the highly publicized case involving the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion.
In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He was sentenced to ten years in prison in August 2023.
The conviction significantly damaged his public image and interrupted his music career.
Danny Masterson
Danny Masterson rose to fame through his role as Steven Hyde on That ’70s Show before later appearing in Netflix’s The Ranch. His acting career ended following serious criminal allegations brought forward by several women.

Joe Exotic
Joe Exotic became an international sensation after the release of Netflix’s Tiger King, which introduced viewers to his unconventional life running exotic animal parks. Long before the documentary aired, however, he had already been facing serious federal criminal charges.
He was convicted of animal abuse offenses and murder-for-hire charges connected to a plot targeting animal rights activist Carole Baskin. Although his prison sentence was later slightly reduced, Joe Exotic remains incarcerated.
Harvey Weinstein
Harvey Weinstein was once one of Hollywood’s most powerful film producers through his work at Miramax. His influence collapsed after numerous women accused him of sexual misconduct, and the resulting reporting helped propel the existing #MeToo movement into a global reckoning over harassment and abuse of power.
Weinstein’s legal history has since become complex. His 2020 New York conviction and 23-year sentence were overturned in 2024, leading to a retrial. In 2025, he was convicted on one criminal sexual-act charge, acquitted on another, and faced a mistrial on a separate rape charge. Prosecutors later moved to dismiss the unresolved rape charge in June 2026.
He also remains convicted in California of rape and sexual assault. A California appeals court upheld that conviction in June 2026 but ordered a new sentencing hearing, meaning his original 16-year sentence is being reconsidered rather than erased.

R. Kelly
R&B superstar R. Kelly enjoyed decades of commercial success while allegations surrounded his personal life for many years. Eventually, extensive federal investigations resulted in multiple criminal prosecutions involving serious offenses against minors.
Kelly was convicted on racketeering, trafficking, and child exploitation charges, leading to decades behind bars. His combined prison sentences effectively ended the career of one of R&B’s most commercially successful artists.
Jared Fogle’s Dramatic Downfall
Jared Fogle rose to national fame as the face of Subway after losing an extraordinary amount of weight through a diet centered on the restaurant’s sandwiches. His transformation story turned him into one of the most recognizable advertising figures of the early 2000s.
His reputation collapsed after a federal investigation uncovered that he had received child exploitation material from an associate. In 2015, Fogle pleaded guilty to multiple serious offenses and was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in federal prison, bringing his once-prominent public career to a permanent end.
